free fries for sport gisborne volunteers
When our friends at sport Gisborne put out the call for businesses to give a little bit on the side to the fantastic volunteers who keep the active activities happening in our community we were happy to put our hand up. So show your volunteer card and get treated like the VIP you are.
cheers to the good sports out there.

2 Years in. How are we doing?

It’s been two whole years since we took over at the store, and when we look back over where we’ve come and forward to where we’re going it’s been quite a journey. We’ve certainly learned heaps over the years and by now we hope we’re making some people happy some of the time, but we know that there is always room for improvement. We’re always looking to add to the Wainui experience, that’s why we brought in Flavorama-fresh flavoured ice-cream, we’ve added pizza to our takeaway offerings and upped the ante with Turihaua Angus in our burgers. We’re always on the look out for interesting new products like Piako gourmet yoghurt and the great range of meats and sausages from the Gisborne Deli. Our summer ‘silly season’ might be dominated by visitors but essentially we’re here to serve the local community and interacting with our regulars on a daily basis is one of the highlights of our job. We love to hear what’s going on in your life and to receive your feedback about the store. You might be on one of our many fans on facebook and we love your posts there, you might like to email shop@wainuistore.co.nz, or you could just tell us to our face but now is the time to let us know what you love, what you want or what you hate. Do you want us to stay open longer? how’s the price of a coffee? can’t find what your looking for? or do your just love marcel’s cheeky grin? What ever your feed back we want to hear it. With your help we can continue to get better and better.

Surf boards for sale

One of the local hounds sniffing out a bargain

Held on the first Saturday of the month, Surf Swap at the Wainui Store is becoming the place for grabbing a bargain surf board to add to your ‘quiver’. Swap IV offered boards in all shapes and sizes, with plenty of deals being done. Wetties, skateboards and magazines were among other kind of associated stuff changing hands.

If you’re in the market to buy or sell any surf related stuff be sure to head in to the next surf swap, First Saturday of every month.
