Artisan baked semi-sourdough buns, locally produced 100% Turihaua Angus beef, a full compliment of salads, the best mayonnaise and our own home made burger relish. If you look carefully at our new menu you might notice that all the battered stuff is no longer there. Sorry about that but there are only so many things we can do properly at the same time.
Still going strong is our iconic crumbed tarakihi, you might think that crumbs are crumbs, but we know differently. Our crumbed fish is coated in a seasoned mix of bread crumbs and seeds. Our bread crumb of choice is panko, or Japanese crumb, made from specially baked crustless bread giving a light, crispy coating. We were prepared to search the world to find the finest bread crumbs but as luck would have it Gisborne’s very own Walter Findlay happens to be at the global forefront of bread crumb baking so not only can we offer you the best, but we’re proud to be keeping it local at the same time. Yay Gisborne.
As happy chicken keepers ourselves, we have something of a passion for free range chicken and eggs, which is why we use and sell only free range chicken and locally produced free range eggs both in our takeaway food and accross the store. Not only do free range chickens enjoy a longer and more natual life than intensively reared ones but the result of all the extra movement and more varied diet is chicken with more flavour and golden yolked eggs.
